went to my first few showrooms today, gabriella coll rescheduled us so im sad
all of these photos are from the INSULAiRE showroom
first time the brand is showing outside of china, cassie and i really loved it
the story behind the brand and the season is quite beautiful. the brand is inspired by people who live on Hainan Island in China (which is where the designer is from)
he references a lot of traditional garments that the people who live there wear and also use the textiles / dyeing methods from the region
the last photo is a type of baby carrying backpack that locals make for their new borns. because the "sea life" makes access to flowers hard, they sew flowers and other embellishments to sort of "bless" the child
the colors in collection itself is based on this "baby backpack" but the reason why there are no "flower prints" being referenced is because the designer wanted to work with locals to have them make it for the brand. however, they rejected him and said that most no longer know how to make these baby packs and dosen't see the same beauty that he sees in them
^ that idea is what actually sparked the collection theme, where the brand is trying to talk about this idea of forgotten tradition, and how older generations might not see the same beauty in something as newer ones (or vise versa)
not sure how much sense this made but i really really enjoyed the story and the clothes

edward cuming womenswear, one of the most fun collections i've seen this season
demon footwear new silhouettes, i think the brand has always been trying to figure out what to do after their intilal success with the poyana, i think the experimental end still needs work but the new shoes seem to be a good step
pet-tree-kor's new season, ngl not my favorite, wish they were more ambitious, can explain later but will keep going

the low top shoes looked good but just very on trend, i didn't take too many photos of the clothing because...well.
dipped into jiyongkim real quick, had literally 2 mins so couldn't really look at the clothes too much
one cool thing is that they are selling vaccum sealed t shirt you you can sunfade yourself
that text you see on the shirt will show thru the sunfading!
taiga... always fantastic, everything speaks for itself
first time doing a leather jacket, hardware is custom (inspired from 1930's leather jackets)
galilee by sea, a new brand i've been quite interested in for a bit
sillouettes looked great, hand feel / qual was not my fav for the price point
excited to see them develop i think there is potential here
maybe it was just the samples so we will see...
